Hohe Tauern National Park
The Hohe Tauern National Park extends across the provinces of Salzburg, Tirol and Carinthia. With an area of 1,800 km² it is the largest national park in Central Europe and in the entire Alpine region. Großglockner is the king of the Hohe Tauern mountain range and Austria´s highest mountain - 3,798 m. The most ideal departure point for conquering the Großglockner peak is the final point of the Kals Glocknerstraße in Ködnitztal valley (2,000 m).
