Innsbruck ski resorts
Nine ski regions hold the key to endless fun on the corduroy around Innsbruck - welcome to the world of alpine skiing and snowboarding in the Olympia ski world! This is Olympic terrain in the true sense because Innsbruck’s skiing areas were in fact tried and tested by Olympic athletes in 1964 and 1976, as they competed for Olympic medals at Patscherkofel and Axamer Lizum.
A total of 80 lifts and cable cars whisk skiers up to the lofty heights above Innsbruck and with the help of snowmaking equipment, the fun on the slopes is guaranteed to last until late into spring. This skiing paradise right on Innsbruck’s doorstep spans almost 300 km of pistes and is all accessible on just one ski pass.
The sky’s the limit when it comes to Kühtai at over 2,000 m, it’s Austria’s highest ski resort. Add another 1,000m in altitude at the nearby Stubai Glacier. At Nordpark, Innsbruck’s most ‘vertical’ park located directly above town, snowboarders love to ride the challenging Skyline Park and Super pipe. Skiers and sun seekers join the Nordkettenbahn cable car to reach heady heights with fabulous panoramic views from the top. For intermediates there are plenty of blues at Mutterer Alm, Rangger Köpfl, Glungezer and Schlick 2000.
As a visitor to Innsbruck and the surrounding holiday villages all you need to do is take your pick: transfers by skibus to the nine ski and snowboard regions are free of charge, comfortable and kind to the environment. For more information: www.innsbruck.info |
