Icon-painting, traditional of Orthodox Christianity, dates back to the 9th-10th centuries. Some of the world famous painters are Zahari Zograf, Stanislav Dospevski, Nikola Obrazopisov, Toma Vishanov, Papa Vitan, Dimitar Molerov and many others.
Classics of the modern Bulgarian fine arts are Vladimir Dimitrov - Maistora, Tsanko Lavrenov, Dechko Uzunov, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, Sirak Skitnik and many others.
