The famous Valley of Roses is located in the central parts of southern Bulgaria. It should be visited at the end of May. This is the rose picking season that lasts until the middle of June. Karlovo, Sopot, Kalofer, Klissoura and Koprivshtitsa occupy a special place in Bulgarian history. Major celebrations and festivities are organized with elements of both history and traditional folklore. The entire town of Koprivshtitsa is an architectural reserve.

Traditional house in Koprivshtitsa
The Valley of Roses, also known as the Valley of Thracian Kings, was the heart of the ancient Thracian state. The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak (UNESCO) and the newly discovered place of worship, consisting of a temple and a tomb at the village of Starosel are equally impressive. There are more recent discoveries from the summer of 2004.
The great wine making tradition is represented in Brestovitsa, Pamidovo, Karlovo, Brezovo and Stara Zagora.
Rural tourism is well developing in the valleys between Balkan Range and Sredna Gora Mountains. In Kalofer, Enina, Koprivshtitsa, Brestovitsa and Debrashitsa one can find comfortable accommodation and enjoy a stay in a traditional Bulgarian house.
