Neuschwanstein castle
Located near the Austrian border, in the countryside outside Munich, Neuschwanstein Castle has the title of the most photographed building in Germany. The fairy tale style castle was built by King Ludwig II in the 19th century.
It is also the most famous of all of the German castles and was the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle located in Disneyland.
You can take a short guided tour of the castle - visiting 15 of the rooms - look out for the wood-carvings in the King's bedroom, which took 4 1/2 years to complete!
