Boldogkõváralja

Towering over the surrounding region, the Boldogkõ Castle is the pre-eminent feature of the settlement. The oldest part of the castle is the Old Tower, built in the 13^th century. The castle was extended in the 14^th century with the addition of the palace and the triangular tower; it acquired its present form in the 15^th century. Each year, at the beginning of August, an “Age of Chivalry” pageant is held to popularise the castle’s traditions.

Another  popular tourist attraction is the baroque style, Péchy-Zichy Mansion, built in 1786. Its more than 2500 sq m floor plan, make this U-shaped mansion the third largest in the county. It currently serves as a  remedial children’s home, which can only be visited with prior permission.
