The city’s most eminent historic building is the Baroque style Festetics Palace, built in the 18th century. It is presently home to the Helikon Palace-Museum, and to the Helikon Library; the latter was founded in the 18th century and is one of the Palace’s most valuable assets. The Franciscan Church in the main square of the city is of Gothic origin (1386); its frescoes date from the 15th and 16th centuries. Exhibitions of the region’s ethnographic and historic memorabilia can be viewed in the Lake Balaton Museum. Keszthely - Festetics Mansion
