Ohrid Lake
Located in the southwestern part of the country, bordered with Albania, Ohrid Lake is the largest tectonic lake and the most popular holiday resort in Macedonia. Lying at an altitude of 693 m, Ohrid Lake has an area of 362 m2; and two-third of that belongs to Macedonia. It is the deepest in the Balkan Peninsula, its depth reach approximately 300 meters.  Ohrid Lake The shore of Lake Ohrid has been settled since the prehistoric times. There can be found several medieval monasteries and churches around the lake, the most famous is Sv. Naum Monastery near the Albanian border. Lying on the northeastern shore of the lake, the historic town of Ohrid is Macedonia’s most beautiful tourist attraction. Another popular holiday resort is Struga on the north side of the lake. Ohrid Lake was inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.  Ohrid Lake |
