Sar Mountain National Park

Sar Mountain (Sar Planina) is located in the northwestern part of Macedonia, near the town of Tetovo. Sar Mountain is an 80 km long and 12 km wide Alpine mountain range; its highest peak is 2760 m. Sar Mountain is covered with snow from November till March or April.
 
Because of its environment and fauna, Sar Mountain is popular tourist resort for tracking, relaxing and doing sport facilities. Sar Mountain is also the original place for the known sheep-guarding dogs, the Sarplaninec dog. Famous Macedonian feta cheese products (Shara and Galicnik) are made in this mountainous region. The mountain range is also rich in medical herbs.
