Petrovac



 

Located in the southern part of Montenegro, in Budva Municipality, about 20 km southeast from the town of Budva, Petrovac (or Petrovac na Moru) is a small coastal town and a popular holiday resort. Petrovac has a 600-meter-long sandy beach.  

Petrovac is a town in Montenegro that is located in the center of two towns namely Budva and Bar. The town is a popular beach resort and mostly attracts tourist and visitors due to its relaxing beaches and its beautiful scenery. The climatic condition of the town is exceedingly favorable with a Mediterranean atmosphere, which guarantees the visitors a sunny stay mostly in the summer.

There are different methods that visitors can use to get to the town of Petrovac. Road transportation is usually the most popular and ideal means of getting into the town as there is a bus terminal in Petrovac linking the town with different destinations. Train transportation is also possible, for a person visiting the area if the visitor uses linkage to get to the town. There is no airport nearby in the town, but one can easily rent a car to travel to the town.

The town's history dates back to the 4th century and explains why there are decidedly old archeological findings in the area. The town has 16th century fortress that was used as a bunker during attacks from pirates and other remains that link to the Roman times dating back to thousands of years ago were found behind a historical church. The name of the town of the town was established during Karadordevic era.

Petrovac has been a highly ranked tourist site since early in the 90's with the beaches as its main attraction. Access to the beaches is easy since most beaches are located at walkable distantances. The town also has two Islands nearby that are perfect for those who love diving. There is also a small church in one of the Islands, which is believed to have been built by a sailor who was saved from ship wreckage as a way of showing thanksgiving. Cruising into the ocean by a boat is also possible for those who prefer cruising as there is a boat cruising service offering daily cruises into the ocean.

Petrovac has several hotels and a nightclub to accommodate any tourist visiting the town as well as a local football club for playing in their first division league. The club has a home stadium in the town; any outsider can go and watch a game of football. The town has beautiful sites for movie filming such as James Bond's Casino Royale and Brothers Bloom as well as a location for shooting music videos.

Though Petrovac is a small town, it offers spectacular scenery with its beaches making it an ideal place for an enjoyable and comfortable beach vacation.
