Krk island is located in Kvarner bay, near Rijeka.  It is one of the biggest islands in this area, being at a size of approximately four hundred and nine square kilometers, covering 405.78 square km, and is also one of the most populous islands. The island is connected to the mainland via 1,430 m long bridge, which is one of the longest concrete bridges in the world. You can reach Krk island by air by air as the northern town of Omišalj hosts the Rijeka International Airport.

Krk receives over twenty-five hundred hours of sun every year.  Krk is not the the greenest of the islands. The island has different landscapes. The north part of the island is almost bare, while the southern part has green areas and gentle bays. The inland is alternated by rocky hills and fertile fields.

It is very busy with tourists due to its bridge to the mainland. The main towns are Baska, Krk town itself, Malinska, Omisalj, Punat and Vrbnik. Krk Town is famous for the Cathedral of St. Mary.

If you in Krk Island, make sure to visit Cave Biserujka, Bay Soline and Kosljun.  Popular activities on the island of Krk include diving, walking, various sports and a variety of adventure activities including mountain biking, sea kayaking and trekking. Vrbnička Žlahtina is a well-known local wine, cultivated in the island.
