Santorini, Greece

Esfigmenou Monastery, Mount Athos, Greece

Esfigmenou monastery is situated in the northern part of Greece, on the Athos peninsula.  Esfigmenou monastery is a part of the Self-governed monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. The current building dates back to the 10th century, but the site had been used as a monastery since the 5th century.Esphigmenou monastery ranks eighteenth in the hierarchy of the Athonite monasteries.
