Thassos Island, Greece

Thasos island is located in the northern Aegean sea, close to the coast of Thrace, about 20 km south-east of Kavala. The administrative center of the island is Thasos town. Most villages were set up inland, as the population was mainly engaged in agriculture, stockbreeding and mining activities. In the recent decades, most important economic activity is tourism.
