The city of Chicago presents a wide range of attractions for visitors.  Different types of entertainment in Chicago can suit all tastes and things to do in the city range from fine shopping, parks, seeing different neighborhoods and buildings to casinos, art and theater.

It should be noted that Chicago offers a selection of varied museums for its residents and visitors to the city.  One of the most prominent and famous museums in the city of Chicago is the Field Museum of Natural History, featuring possibly its most famous exhibit, the T-rex Sue.

Located on Lake Shore Drive close to Lake Michigan, the Field Museum of Natural History is situated in a large 57 acre park complex that also houses the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum and the Shedd Aquarium.  This means that there is an abundance of things to do in the same area.

The roots of the museum were sewn in 1893 upon the establishment of the Columbian Museum of Chicago.  In 1905 the museum’s name was changed in honor of its major patron, Marshall Field.   In addition, the change in name indicates the high concentration of natural history and science elements based at the museum.  The museum was first situated in Jackson Park and in 1921 moved to its current location.  The Field Museum of Natural History is considered by many as one of the top sites in Chicago.
