Drayton Manor Theme Park
The awarding winning Drayton Manor Theme Park is located near Tamworth in Staffordshire, England on the A4091. On Fridays and Saturdays, during summer months, Cross Country trains run a bus service directly from Tamworth station into the theme park. So, getting there is easy and inexpensive from points all over the UK.
Once inside, you will find rides, shows and shops, as well as the museum, the zoo and Thomas Land, with 12 rides, an indoor play area and a shop packed full of Thomas and Friends merchandise. A little planning will ensure that your visit is fun-filled, yet leisurely. Here are some tips:
Stay at the Belfry
If you want to have a wonderful holiday that the kids and the adults in the family will truly enjoy, consider the Belfry for your accommodations. It’s only 10 minutes from the park, sits on 550 acres of English countryside, boasts a spa, a leisure club and three 18 hole golf courses. With special packages offered by the resort and the theme park, you can have a luxurious holiday for an affordable price.
Stay at the Campground
Camping may be a bit less luxurious, but more appealing to the budget-minded family. The Drayton Manor camping and caravan site is located within the park boundaries, which makes it the most convenient of any accommodation. Campers get a discount on theme park entrance fees and families can save money by eating at their campsite, rather than in the park’s restaurants.
Save the Rides for the Afternoon
The waiting times are longer first thing in the morning, right after opening, than at any other time of the day. Even the queues to get into the park are longer in the morning. Don’t arrive too late though - or you may struggle to get everything done before closing time. If there are big queues for the rides when you first arrive - visit the zoo first, and save the rides until they’re quieter.
Bring Your Extended Family
Drayton Manor theme park and zoo offers family packages and discounts for seniors over the age of 60. Children four and under are free with a paying adult. So, bring the whole family. The teenagers and adults can enjoy the thrill rides while the toddlers and their grandparents visit Excalibur, enjoy the Pirate Adventure and take a spin on the carousel.
The zoo comprises 15 acres and is fun for all ages. Entrance to the zoo and all of the attractions are included in the ticket price. Food, beverages and accommodations at the campground are extra.
Make Drayton Manor your destination for your next family holiday. You will please everyone.
