Kenya Beach Tours
Weary of jet-set life? Fly with us to Tanzania in a reverse direction of time when wooden dhows, donkeys and log-fire defined a day’s life. Lamu Island is an ancient Arabian island-paradise. It’s Africa’s most remote, relaxing, and richly romantic coastal hideaway. Here you unwind and rebound in an ambience of long-lost past. Sweeping beaches, rolling snow-white sand dunes washed in cool breeze lull you in a pristine aura.
You can go snorkeling or fishing, or, if you still find Lamu paced, take a 10-minute boat ride to Shela Island and see how nature put you in an alcove, a nature’s time-warp. Perhaps, you could go further north and be ensconced in the splendorous Kiwayu Island.
From here you can hop on to Malindi, a strip of idyllic tropical beach and look at Marafa Depression (Hell’s Kitchen). It is a geological irregularity. Over the time, wind and rain have eroded a ridge of sandstone into a set of gorges. The hue and view of Marafa Depression is worth a visit because words fail here. And then, traverse to Watamau national park to have a tete-e-tete with denizens of jungle. One can also take a bus or taxi drive and drink in the scenery along.
There are daily flights linking Malindi, Mombasa, Nairobi and Lamu.
The beach tourism in Kenya should essentially centre South coast, North coast, Lamu, Tana River delta, Malindi and Watamu.
Mombasa, a large port city, has one of the best white sandy beaches and coral reefs in Africa. Though a city, it offers both modern and traditional. You could live like a king without paying a king’s ransom or you could crawl into a hut and life lowly yet condescendingly. From Mombasu, one could go to North coast.
Nyali, Vipingo, Kikambala and Shanzu are home to a wide range of World Class resorts with fine cuisine and services. The peaceful beach havens of Mtwapa and Takaungu offer ideal escape from the outside world, and in its endless deserted beaches, you could muse or amuse or perhaps bemuse your partner.
If you are a Wordsworthian, hopelessly in love with Nature, Tana River Delta is the destination for you. It’s best for swimming, game viewing and birdwatching and muse on cosmos.
