Croatia has three climatic zones: Continental, High altitude and Mediterranean. The prevailing climate in the country’s continental interior is moderately rainy. The area of high altitude with Croatia’s highest peaks have a mountain climate which includes snowfall. The areas along the Adriatic coast have a pleasantly mild Mediterranean climate with a large number of sunny days, summers are hot and dry and winters are mild and wet.

Average temperatures in the continental interior are: January -2 to 0C, with somewhat lower temperatures at the highest altitudes; August approximately 20C, with around 12C at the highest altitudes.

Average temperature in the Littoral (Adriatic Coast) are: January -5 to 9C, August -22 to 25C; sea temperature in winter 12C, in summer approximately 25C.
