Due to its beautiful sandy beaches, Rab island is a popular vacation destination in Croatia. It is located on northern part of the Croatian coast. The island is 22 km long and has an area of 93.6 km2.
Rab features an extremely unique landscape. On the northeastern side of the island, the landscape is mostly bare. However, on the southwestern side of the island, the landscape is covered with one of the last oak forests of the Mediterranean region.
Rab island has ferry connection with the mainland ports of Jablanac and Rijeka, and it has direct ferries also to the neighbouring islands of Krk and Pag.
Rab has become an extremely popular location for travelers due to its breathtaking beaches and cultural events. The most poopular touristic events are the Rab Medieval Festival and Rab Arbalest Tournament.
The island of Rab is rich in cultural heritage and historical monuments. Rab Town, the main resort, is full of medieval buildings, built under Venetian rule in the 13th century. The old town walls are still visible in some places. Rab is also known as a pioneer of nudism in Croatia.
