The town of Senj is located on the Velebit channel and is the biggest town on the route from Rijeka to Zadar. It sits between the sea, the slopes of Mountain Kapela and the highest Croatian Mountain Velebit, where the Mediterranean climate and Alp-Dinara mountain climate overlap.
It is, therefore, famous for a unique natural phenomenon – the Senj winter storms. Senj is a city with a rich history, and visitors will particularly enjoy a tour of the Nehaj fortress.
In terms of the Senj calendar of events, the following should be highlighted: the Uskok Days, held in July, the Festival of north Adriatic “klapa” singers, , the sailing regatta, and the famous international Senj summer carnival, held in August.
