Tropical holiday in Sentosa

Posted By MarvaoGuide Posted on

Our favourite place for safe, family vacations is Sentosa. When my kids were small, we’d go there every year, and spend a couple of nights in a hotel. When I was pregnant, we stayed in the chalets. Not a good idea. Hubby ended up hauling the entire family’s luggage on foot to and from the chalets. I was very pregnant and had an extremely active 1 year old kid to chase after.

From then on, we spent our holidays in Sentosa at the hotels instead. Sure, they cost more, but they are a whole lot more convenient. There’s the shuttle bus that stops right outside the hotel, that brings your to most of the attractions on that island.

Sentosa is a beautiful island off Singapore.

It has a gorgeous beach. The silosa beach, where you can laze on the white sands by the blue sea all day, unless it rains of course.

I prefer lazing around in the hotel though. Our favourite hotel?

Shangri La Rasa Sentosa Resort

We went there once. My hubby had a surprise birthday gift from some store he bought stuff from. Discounted rates at Shangri La Rasa Sentosa Resort for a month.

We jumped at the chance to try that hotel.

Kids loved it.

Service was excellent.

Service recovery, that is.

There was a mix up when he booked the room. We went there and there were none available. With 2 very irritable kids, we certainly weren’t in a good mood.

The room we booked was among the cheapest there, but they gave us a suite for the price we paid. Discounted price on top of that.

From then on, the vacation was fabulous.

I could have spent all my time in that hotel, but the kids want to see the attractions at Sentosa.

Their favourite place is the Underwater World.

As you go through the levels in the underwater world, you feel like you’re in the middle of the ocean. Ok, stuck in a fish tank, if you are the cynical sort.

Anyway, you see sharks swimming above you, all sorts of water life on your left, right, above. It’s like walking in a tunnel within the sea, that allows you to watch the creatures closely yet safely.

After a nasty experience I had with a thief in a nearby country, on the last day of a family vacation to boot, I prefer going to Sentosa for the rest of my holidays.
