Mavrovo National Park
Located in the northwestern part of Macedonia, Mavrovo National Park with its landscapes, lakes and forests, is one of the most beautiful areas in Macedonia. Encompassing a territory of 73.000 ha, the Mavrovo area is the largest National Park in the country. The structure of the national park is diverse; one part of the area covers an alpine mountainous region such as Shara Mountain, Korab, Deshat and Bistra Mountains. There are 52 peaks higher than 2000 m, which are divided by deep gorges and canyons. The highest peak is the Golem Korab (2764 m).  Mavrovo National Park Popular tourist attractions are the spring and the upper flow of Dlaboka River, the Barich Gorge, the Canyon of Adzhina River, as well as the Proyfel waterfall (134 m). Mavrovo has excellent conditions for winter tourism, a great number of tourists visit its ski resorts in the winter season.
