Turkey makes for an ideal sun holiday

Where are you heading on your summer holidays this year? Most of us are going away and we want sun, sand and sea. According to a survey published by onthebeach, bookings for summer holidays to Turkey grew by 63% this year compared to 2009 figures. Why? The answer is simple, value for money.

Britons are now becoming more demanding than ever. Money is scarce and we don’t want to be so reliant on our credit cards. We want to pay the same amount we have always paid for our holidays, but this year we want a lot more for our money. This means we have to be a lot savvier when it comes to hunting down those bargain deals that don’t compromise on quality.

This is where Turkey steps in. You can fly there in around four hours and be transported to a hot and sunny beach paradise that feels like a million miles from the UK, not just under 2000 miles. But, the biggest advantage is its monetary position. It does not use the Euro, and for every pound you get more than two Turkish Lira.

Another benefit is the type of resorts on offer. Once you arrive in a typical Turkish beach resort you don’t have to think about anything else other than relaxing. From kids’ clubs to night clubs, everything you could want for a week by the sea is on hand. This has other advantages too. If you book an all-inclusive package in the UK, you won’t have to keep putting your hand in your pocket once you have arrived. Many all-inclusive deals also include local alcoholic drinks, so you don’t even have to pay extra for your evening’s cocktails.

The climate is another major draw card. Turkey has a temperate climate meaning the season is long. Because of this, there isn’t such a big spike in prices during peak season. Therefore you can take the kids with you in the school summer holidays and not pay too much extra for the convenience. If you want to avoid the hordes of tourists then travel outside peak season in May, June and September. Prices will be lower and the weather will still be fantastic. What’s more, because the resorts are much quieter you will be able to take full advantage of the free equipment hire, such as kayaks and windsurfers.
